1. Who we are
Aylo (“we”, “us”, or “Aylo”) is operated by Aylo AI Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Aylo iOS app and our website at ayloai.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. If something here is unclear, write to us at privacy@ayloai.com.
2. What we collect
Information we receive
- Account details. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address and a stable identifier. We do not receive your password.
- Subscription status. If you purchase Aylo Pro, your subscription status comes to us through Apple. We do not see your payment card.
Information stored only on your device
- Journal entries and chats. The text you write in your journal, the messages you exchange with Aylo, and Aylo’s responses are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this content.
- People and patterns. When you write about someone, Aylo automatically detects their name and organizes related entries. These are stored locally on your device.
Information sent transiently for AI processing
- Messages and screenshots. When you chat with Aylo or upload a screenshot, the content is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. It is processed in real time and not stored by us or our provider.
Information we collect automatically
- Limited usage metrics. Counts of feature use (e.g. “a chat was started”) and an anonymous device identifier, without the contents of what you wrote.
3. How we use it
- To provide the app: store your entries on your device and generate Aylo’s responses.
- To keep things working: diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
- To communicate with you about your account, important updates, or things you asked us to send.
We do not use your entries or chats to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s. We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads inside Aylo.
4. How AI responses work
When you chat with Aylo or upload a screenshot for analysis, the text of your messages, any images you upload, and a short window of recent conversation context are sent to Anthropic (our third-party AI provider) over an encrypted connection. Anthropic processes this data solely to generate a response and is contractually prohibited from storing, retaining, or using it for model training or any other purpose. Anthropic’s data protection standards are equivalent to our own.
Before your data is sent to Anthropic for the first time, the app asks for your consent. We do not send your account details to Anthropic, though any personal information you include in your messages or screenshots will be part of the content processed.
5. How we store it
Your entries, chats, and people files are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers. Only your account credentials are stored on our servers, hosted with reputable cloud providers in the United States. If you delete the app, your local data is permanently removed.
6. Sharing
We share information only with the service providers needed to run Aylo — for example, the AI provider that generates responses and the authentication host that manages your sign-in. Each of these providers is bound by contract to handle your data only as we instruct.
We may disclose information if compelled by valid legal process, but we will push back on requests that appear overbroad and notify you when we are permitted to.
7. Your choices
- Delete. Settings → Delete Account removes your account and all associated data within 30 days.
- Access & correction. Write to privacy@ayloai.com if you need help.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA — including the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell your personal information. Contact privacy@ayloai.com to exercise these rights.
8. Retention
Your entries and chats live on your device for as long as the app is installed. When you delete your account, we remove your authentication record and any server-side data within 30 days, except for limited records we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons. Deleting the app removes all local data immediately.
9. Children
Aylo is not directed to children under 17, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, write to privacy@ayloai.com and we will remove the account.
10. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Aylo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
